Song of the day: She Said – The Beatles

Note: This sight beautifully demonstrates how to punctuate dialog:

Since I need to keep a few grammatical notes for easy reference I thought I would store them on my blog. Please feel free to add comments with additions to this list of dialogue tags or notes on proper usage.

This is a reference for ways to enhance your dialog tags. It is a tricky list to use. The proper way to write a sentence is,  ‘ “Stop it!” she said, assertively. ‘  and not ‘ “Stop it!” she asserted.’  This is because you can’t assert with your voice but you can say something while sounding assertive.
